File Your Taxes.com. I am a retired tax professional, but always had to pay to file my taxes, unless I used the antiquated, time-consuming Free-File Fillable Forms at IRS.gov. Whoever was the computer programmer at File Your Taxes.com that set up the Indiana portion, input the wrong county tax rate, causing me to owe $145, rather than be due a refund of $62. I made three attempts to contact support with no response. I decided to delete the Indiana return and just e-file the federal return. However, the program would not allow that. And they wanted to charge me for both federal and state returns, even though I went through the IRS website. This company preys on consumers, hoping they will give up and pay the money, rather than go elsewhere and start over. Not this consumer!

I’m assuming you mean “their site”, not our site, because we tried to warn you and show that there was a cost to file – as well as other issues.

But, I was led to believe from the government website that led me to your site, that I would be able to file my state tax return for free as it was on your list. I am extremely upset that instead I was charged $35 to file it! And I had already filed my federal returns with you and therefore couldn’t start a new return elsewhere, because other sites won’t let you file a state return for free without filing your federal taxes with them. I know that there’s probably some fine print I didn’t read, but man- what a brutal thing to do. Capitalism at it’s worst.

The IRS site stated that they were free to file since I’m retired I met the low income guidelines.
After significant time and effort I completed my tax return only to find out at submission that they were charging me to file. The software was very basic and would have much preferred Turbo Tax for ease of use and reliability to find all qualifying deductions. Since it was close to the tax deadline and I already had all my information input, it was blackmail to require fees or not have my taxes done in time. Contacting them is difficult, the only method was by email. I explained my concerns and they accused me of entering the site incorrectly? I found them through the IRS, the method they claim is free. My experience finds this “company” very unrepeatable and suggest using a well known service.

After 6 hours of trying to navigate the site ,and then hitting an error that kept coming up with no solution suggested , I gave up .
The frustrating part is that I only got to this site because it is one of only 3 suggested on the official IRS page .
