I wanted to inform you of an update. SoFi does not discharge student loans in the event of the borrower’s death. They have been a total nightmare start to finish while dealing with my mother’s estate. I was originally told the loan was eligible for discharge when she died only to have a claim filed by SoFi against my mother’s estate 6 MONTHS later. Their website also says that they discharge loans in the event of a death but that is a lie. They do not and they will give you no explanation as to why. BEWARE. Extremely predatory and impossible to work with.
